February 1 7, 2006: Another GSPC leader, Abu al Baraa, was killed by troops in a clash 260 kilometers east of the capital. Baraa was one of the 19 original founders of the GSPC, and one of main defenders of the terrorists against the increasing number of Islamic scholars in Algeria who are condemning terrorism.
