Murky moves in the tribal and religious-riven politics of south Sudan. One-time deputy president of Sudan (but also a former southern rebel leader) Riek Machar is back with his South Sudan Defense Forces (SSDF). Machar resigned as a deputy president because Sudan's President Omar al-Beshir wasn't living up to the peace agreements. What isn't clear is Machar's new relationship with the SPLA.
