 Some 300 army and navy troops seized an office complex in the capital and called for popular protest against corruption in the military and government. The complex was promptly surrounded by troops loyal to the government and negotiations begun with the mutineers.

NPA rebels attacked a police station in eastern Philippines and killed a policeman. They then looted the house of the town mayor, kidnapped one of his daughters and stole his car.
