That raid was thought to have been committed by Islamic radicals. But some local Thais say the raiders were bandits. In any event, stolen weapons fetch a high price (over a thousand dollars) in Indonesia. The weapons have to be smuggled in. Recently, imported refrigerators were found to have assault rifles hidden inside.
