A large bomb went off in a market in the Pakistan capital Islamabad. Some 16 were killed and nearly 80 injured. India reported that it had, in the last four days, killed 20 rebels trying to cross the Kashmiri line of control from Pakistan. As a result, Pakistan had increased it's use of mortars against Indian patrols. Some 450 Pakistani mortar shells had fallen on Indian territory in the last few days and continues. The shelling is thought be an attempt to keep Indian troops under cover so the rebels could cross the frontier unmolested.
