A British Blowpipe shoulder fired anti-aircraft missile was found set up and ready to fire outside the Bagram airport north of Kabul. The Blowpipe dates from the 1980s war against the Russians and was unlikely to be in working condition. But someone was apparently trying to bring down an aircraft. 

A US request, Italy has agreed to send a thousand of it's mountain troops to assist American soldiers in their sweeps of the hills and valleys of southern Afghanistan. 

In Kandahar, two men disguised in women's clothing (the all enveloping burqas) fired rifles and threw grenades in a market. Two soldiers were wounded.
