PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 22, 2016) Chief Petty Officer Patrick Guillermo directs an AV-8B Harrier assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 (Reinforced) aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island, the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is deployed with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of the Navy's maritime strategy in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of responsibility.
