The National Guard is fighting to keep 100 of their 377 AH-1 Cobra helicopters after the Army retires the entire Cobra fleet in October 2001. The point is that the pilots need to maintain their training levels, and cannot do so without something to fly. It will be years before the National Guard units receive all of the Apaches that will replace their Cobras.--Stephen V Cole
