The US Army has received an initial shipment of new bioweapons detection kits that can identify Bacillus anthracis (anthrax), Yersinia pestis (plague), Francisella tularensis (tularemia, rabbit fever), and Clostridium botulinism (botulism). The important thing about these new kits developed by Cepheid is that they can be stored at room temperature for long periods. Current bioweapons detection kits must be stored in refrigerated areas and rapidly degrade once they warm up.--Stephen V Cole
