The Canadian Navy has broken a tradition dating back at least three centuries, ordering all men on board the ships headed for the Afghan War Zone to shave off their beards so that their gas masks will fit properly. There is some concern that the Taliban might have a Scud missile filled with poison gas that they could fire in the general direction of allied warships.--Stephen V Cole
