The experimental MiG 1-44, built by the Russian Aircraft Corporation, made its second flight on 27 April. This flight lasted only 22 minutes, but included the first time the prototype has retracted its landing gear in flight. The aircraft reached a speed of 320 knots and an altitude of 6,560 feet. The two-month delay since the first flight was used to refit and adjust the aircraft. RAC says that the next new MiG will enter service in 2011-2015.--Stephen V Cole
